Battle Sphere is a 3D space battle game with a variety of game modes. There is a training mode that teaches you how to play, a free-for-all battle mode, a Star Raiders-type mode called Alone Against the Empire, and a level-based mode called Gauntlet. Some of the modes start out fairly easy, but the challenge level increases dramatically as you get farther into the game.
The 3D graphics look very good and are some of the best you'll find on the system. The music is also very good, especially the music at the ship selection screen. The controls are quite complex for a console game (every button on the controller is used) and it takes a while to learn them. But when you do, they work quite well. My main gripe is that when enemies start shooting you, it is near impossible to aim your guns until they stop.
Battle Sphere is a high quality game in every respect. There is a lot of depth and plenty of challenge to keep you playing for a long time. If you like some strategy mixed in with your shooting games, Battle Sphere is a game you don't want to miss.
